TEACHER OF MATHS
The academy is seeking to recruit a teacher of Maths to predominately join our Post 16 team (there will also be some lessons based in our school provision) from April 2025.
The Role
Abbey Hill Academy and Abbey Hill Academy 6th Form are at the forefront of current developments in the education of young people with special needs. At Abbey Hill we specialise in meeting the needs of students aged 11 to 18 who have a full range of learning disabilities.
The academy is seeking to recruit a teacher of Maths to predominately join our Post 16 team (there will also be some lessons based in our school provision) from April 2025. The Sixth Form provides a broad and balanced curriculum for approximately 75 students aged from 16 to 18 years who have a range of learning difficulties, as well as other physical and emotional needs. Knowledge and experience of teaching Primary and/or entry level/level 1 Maths would be an advantage. Experience of delivering courses such as functional skills would also be an advantage but is not essential. The right candidate will need to be an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher, with high expectations of our students and have the ability, perseverance and resilience to be an outstanding practitioner.
The successful candidate will be joining an Academy Trust that is moving forwards and is striving for excellence. We offer a collaborative and supportive environment where all staff are valued and nurtured.
Applications are welcomed from newly qualified or experienced teachers from a primary or secondary background. As well as excellent curriculum knowledge, good communication and interpersonal skills, the successful candidate will have proven ability to work as part of a team of teachers and support staff. Previous experience of working with students with SEN would be desirable but not essential.
A visit to the academy would be highly recommended. To arrange this please contact the HR Team at HSATHR@horizonstrust.org.uk.
